Study Food

For those who have followed this blog for a while should know that I have a very healthy obsession with peanut butter (and all things peanuty) and nothing marries with PB better than smooth, rich and velvety chocolate! So when Pupu’s parents came back from Canada, they had a very pleasant surprise for me (Yay, big thx!). It was supposed to be more of a study snack pack, to help me concentrate and none works better than the PB and chocolate sugar boost of Reese’s.

Reese Peanut Butter Crunch
Just as the name states, these were crunchy treats with crispy peanut buter candy, creamy peanut butter and chopped peanuts smothered in a chocolatey coating. Each bite delivered a resounding crunch from the candy and the peanuts while the flavour fusion in your mouth was undeniably good.

Reese Whoppers
These Whoppers are a bit different to the flame-grilled burgers I am used to associating their names with but they are tasty and crispy balls with a melty peanut butter coating. These are basically Maltesers with a peanut butter coating instead of chocolate.

Werther’s Chocolates
I am also a big fan of Werther’s Original candy so these chocolates of almonds, hazelnuts and crunchy toffee covered in milk chocolate would be right down my alley. They are surprising similar to Daim candy though.

Maple Syrup
I love the the novelty maple leafed container and can only imagine the deliciousness being smothered onto hotcakes and pancakes by this rich sauce mmmmm.

Reese Peanut Butter Cups
The classic Reese’s PB cups is still their best product imo. The rich milk chocolate melds with the sweet peanut butter perfectly to form a beautiful combination of flavours and textures.

Mmmm a product that actually looks like the picture!

Home Cooking – Marbled Peanut Butter & Nutella Brownies
I really want holidays haha and weekends are short so I have to try squeezing in as much as possible into them. Including playing around in the kitchen, which I have not been doing much at all recently
Fortunately I had time the past weekend to try out this awesome recipe at Cookie Madness. Anna has a huge collection of recipes for cookies, brownies, blondies, bars and other desserts so it is always fun to read and drool over. Once I saw this combination of PB and Nutella I just had to try it out mmm ^^!
Here Comes the Ingredients
Marbled Peanut Butter & Nutella Brownies
75g unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4c brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2c Peanut Butter (Crunchy!!! Only crunchy is permitted XD )
2 large eggs, room temp.
3/4c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
a pinch of salt
Chocolate Swirl:
100g dark chocolate
1/2 tsp butter
1/4c Nutella
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C and line a 8 inch pan with baking paper.
Beat the butter and brown sugar in a medium sized mixing bowl until you get the wet sand look/feel. Add vanilla and peanut butter and mix, then beat in the eggs until just mixed. Mix in the baking powder and salt, making sure they are evenly distributed. Sift in the flour and stir until mixed in. Spread peanut butter batter in pan.
For chocolate swirl, melt the butter and chocolate either in microwave or via double boiler. Remove from heat and add in the nutella and mix slightly. Dollop spoonfuls of the chocolate swirl onto the peanut butter batter and then use a knife (or chopstick asian style) to create marbling.
Bake brownies for abour 30mins or until the sides pull away and center just sets. Cool on wire rack and then fridge or sneak a warm gooey piece mmmmm ^^!

Can have this either warm or cold. Personally I like it warm with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of more chocolate haha. I love PB and chocolate combination and the nutella gives it a subtle hazelnutty flavour. Mmmmm.

Home Cooking – Snickers Cookies
When I first came across this recipe, the first thought that popped into my head was,”This is so mmee!” Ever since I was small, my favourite candy bars has been Peanut Slabs, Picnics and of course Snickers bars. So a big thank you very much to Susan at Food Blogga and Michelle from Scribbit for posting up this recipe for Snickers Cookies.
The smell of these cookies wafting throughout the house is just one of the many perks when baking these cookies. Eating them warm out of the oven is heavenly with a mixture of soft cookie and sticky, crunchy and chewy bites of Snickers. This is definitly a cookie worth baking and reasonably easy to make. Here Comes the Ingredients.
(Makes around 35 cookies)
1/2 c granulated sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c butter
1/2 c peanut butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 c plain flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
8-10 Fun sized Snickers, chopped into small pieces
Preheat oven to 190 degrees C and prepare a baking tray with baking paper. Cut each of the fun sized Snickers bars into 6 pieces.
Combine the sugars, butters and eggs into a mixing bowl and mix well (again I don’t have any of that valuable vanilla extract so I just left it out… I really should get some sometime *nods*). Once the mixture is well-mixed add in the flour, baking powder and salt and mix again until well blended. Stir in the pieces of Snickers bars.
Roll the dough into small balls in your palms and space evenly on the baking tray as they will spread out when baking. If dough becomes sticky, run your hands under some warm water.
Bake about 11-13 minutes, until the cookies become golden brown and slightly puffy and then allow to cool before serving!
My cookies aren’t always perfect in shape and size >_< but their aroma and taste is able to compensate for that.
Mmmmm warm and soft with a glass of cold milk ^^! or even when they cooled a very nice crumbly texture still with the chewy and sticky Snickers bites. One problem with Snickers is that they can get stuck in between teeth quite easily but even so I still eat them *munch*.
