Bungalow 8 – King St Wharf, Sydney

You must be all thinking ‘Not another B’day post?! You had two already and, you know, normal people only have one B’day a year’. Well I am sorry but this is yet another celebration wOOt! but with foodie friends Atablefortwo, Jenius and The<3offood. Billy, Jen and I had been craving the all you can eat mussels at Bungalow 8 since we got rejected last time and this time we came back with a vengence, a booking and an 4 empty stomachs rar!

Cool lights inside
Too bad it was darkness! and so I apologize for the poor photos. The all-you-can-eat mussels and chunky fries is only available on Tuesday nights and only if you have made a booking for the reasonable price of $22.50. From memory they do not take any bookings after 7:00pm so it will have to be an early dinner, which is also a good thing because you can spend hours eating there and maximising musselage! Billy came with a targert in mind, which was to beat GrabYourForks’ record of 4 pots and so that became all of our targets.
Here Comes the Food

Round 1 *ding ding*
There are a total of 5 flavours to choose from: Green Thai Curry, White Wine, Laksa, Provancale and Tom Yum. It is the wiser choice to start off with something that is slightly sour and definitely nothing that is creamy.

We all dig in happily and thinking this will b a piece of cake and boy were we wrong haha. These pots of mussels were actually quite substantial even when some of the shells were empty. Also the chunky fries played a big part in filling us up haha. Pot after pot after pot…

Bah free bread get outta my face! Thankfully it was not warm otherwise I might actually have had some haha.

Hee hee funny 3 bodied man (and yay for good lighting)
Thanks again to Billy, Jen and Simon for making it an awesome night out ^^! In the end I only managed to tie with Helen at 4 pots but thinking back I should had eaten 4 pots and 1 mussel so I could say that I beat her haha jkjk. I say we need to have another challenge but something in the meat department XD Hmm I have a feeling I won’t be having mussels for at least a few days now haha

Wow, the mussels come in so many flavours. It would be awful deciding which flavour to have if you couldn’t fit in so many bowls!

Hehe 4 pots, wow that’s huge! I managed one pot. That’s a bit sad compared to 4 pots lol. Did you eat any bread and fries with that or was that going to waste precious stomach space?
April 7th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
Arwen – Haha so what you are saying is that you have to have one of each
?! Gogogo whheeee
Forager – Hee hee thx but must go harder!
Grace – Haha classic Grace
The pots are pretty decent but that is also cos the chips are very teeny tiny
Lorraine – Oohh hee hee you are much classier than I am haha no bread but had quite some chippies cos they are a good break from the mussels haha.
