Chophouse – Sydney CBD, Sydney

A restaurant with a name like Chophouse, gets me all giddy and excited because it could only mean one thing… steak, ribs and lots of meaty meat! The restaurant looks like an ordinary one from the outside but once you step inside, the atmosphere consumes you and transports you to another world. A world of classic wooden, rustic setting of comfy sofa benches, giant mirrors, mood lighting and of course the unmissable skull chandelier hanging over the bar.
Chophouse is a sister restaurant of Kingsleys Steakhouse and to be honest, I prefer this kind of relaxing and chilled atmosphere over the more formal and older sister. It is more fun and that means the food also tastes better ^^!

A small herd of bloggers ‘oohed’ and ‘ahhed’ (or maybe just me) over the ceiling beams which were cleverly designed to look like ribs mmmmm ribbsss, if only they came in those sized portions. The group of TupperShez, RCsuze, Grab Your Own Crackling, B—-!, Lettuce and Fluffing Expert. We were invited by the lovely Abbe of Kingsley Group to sample a Roast Dinner special which is at a very reasonable price of $18.

I wonder how they reach the wines at the top… hmmm

Perusing the menu for others goodies that we might be interested in
Lettuce went straight for the seafood (as his name suggests), while Fluffing Expert and I went to browse the big cuts of meat RARR!

Cute bread plate ^^!
Here Comes the Food

Roast Dinner – Riverine Premium Beef, Byron Bat Berkshire Pork with Crackling! Served with Japanese pumpkin and Dutch cream potatoes
The instant the plates land on the table, there was a flurry of the usual camera-work but also an quick eye-down to compare crackling sizes.

OMG CRACKLING XD!
The roast dinner was very homely and warming especially in these colder times, where a good comfort meal is indeed the answer to many a problem. The slices of pork with tender and matched beautifully with the apple sauce or gravy but the better meat was the beef with a moist and flavoursome especially with a healthy dose of mustard. I love seeded mustard and apple sauce.. oh and the french onion gravy was really good too ^^!
Then came the perfectly soft and creamy pumpkin and potatoes, both with deliciously crispy outer coatings which cause a burst of crunch at each bite. They just completed the dinner very nicely with the roasted pumpkin and potatoes. But as usual, the best is saved for last which could only mean the crackling! For me this type of crackling is not as good as the normal roast crackling which I am used to as the piece here was too similar to that of the packet pork rinds but it was still damn good *crackle crackle crackle*

Condiments – seeded mustard, french onion gravy and apple sauce

Potato Gratin ($7.90)
Very creamy and full of flavour, this gratin was the best side dish to accompany with the roast dinner. It is a pity that it is not included in the $18 roast dinner but it is so tastyyy.

Seasonal Green Beans with herb butter ($7.90)
Crunch, crunch of fresh beans and something green made us all feel a bit better about the mainly meaty dinner. Just ignore the fact that they are glistening with the deliciousness of herb butter ^^!

RCsuze preparing for dessert XD

The invitation indicated a very special house-made chocolate block and I was very excited to see it arrive on a chopping block and mini-cleaver! Dessert and fun ^^!

The very smooth and creamy bar of heavenly chocolate was made of 20% dark, 80% milk and a lovely hazelnut praline (final product was about 48% cocoa). I loved the novelty of cutting your own chocolate and to experience all the crunch and crack of the bar. Then to experience it all again in the mouth of the smooth chocolate melting and the toffee and nutty praline crunch is pure bliss ^^!

Head Chef – David Clarke
Chef David Clarke was full of smiles as Abbe introduced him to the groups of guests. He then returns later on and gives RCsuze 3 of the house-made chocolate blocks to take home! Hmm maybe I should change my name to Meatichiban…?

Great to dine with fellows bloggers again ^^! Good timmmmeesss!
