Pie in the Sky (PITStop) – Cowan, Sydney (2)

Being a pie and pie-related products enthusiast, having been only once to Pie in the Sky was downright shameful! I say, any chance you get take a little drive and go on a fun adventure to Cowan where the roads are tighter, skies are brighter and the pies are mightier! As a mini convoy on a fine afternoon, we made our way hungering for the pies that were to come.

There are always so many bikers here hee hee. Must be some sort of law of proportionality between the number of bikers and the quality of the pies XD

I don’t actually remember this board last time maybe because I was too busy distracted by the pies mmmm pie

They still have a great selection of delicious pies and they also had one new dessert pie, rhubarb and apple

Pie (Lamb, Honey & Rosemary) served on a plate with wedges, peas and gravy ($9.30)
Pie on a plate… who would have thunk it! I am used to my gruff and barbaric ritual of mauling into a pie with both hands and a big mouth with bared teeth Raar *munch* I guess for a combination + pie this is actually quite a good deal.
Being the ravenous being I am, decided to binge on 3 pies ^^!

Chicken, Honey & Mustard ($4.70)
I knew I had to try this pie as soon as I saw honey and mustard haha and I did not regret it at all. The honey and mustard were actually a beautiful combination of flavours even though the mustard was the stronger of the flavours with only a tad hint of honey. The mustard used was already mild with a slight sweetness but the honey added that extra little bit of flavour which completed the pie for me. Also with juicy bites of chicken this pie was win!

Lamb, Honey & Rosemary ($4.70)
This pie has not changed since last time, it is still very magical mmmm. The lamb pieces are still superbly soft and succulent and the honey was spread about in some parts of the pie to give it sweet bursts with some occasional bites. Some of the others found it a bit to sweet but I was ok with it hee hee XD

Beef, Bacon & Cheese ($4.70)
What is there not to like?! Theres beef mince, bacon pieces and cheese ^^! The bacon gave the pie a scrumptious smokey flavour but I did have one small gripe and that was, as usual, a disregard for the proper amount of cheese this pie should have

Steak & Cracked Pepper ($4.70)
The photo does not do the steak justice as it looks a little bit dry but I was assured that it was tender and chunkiful. There was also adequate cracked pepper for that peppery hit.
Last time I complained that the dessert pies were cold and I still stand by my opinion that these would become pies of exploding deliciousness if they were warm but even in their cold state, they are reasonable and worth getting.

Oh booberry! Milk and cereal, milk and cereal…

Blueberry Pie
The obvious favourite of the dessert pies where the sweet juicy filling oozed out of its delicate soft pastry shell.

Apple Pie
Another delicious dessert pie. The Peach Pie was reported to be very similar to the Apple Pie which is kind of weird :S

Unidentified Flying Pie (UFP)
Definitely worth the trip and we shall be doing it againnnn and againnn until we are too full of pie… then we shall pie some more XD!

I’ve been to Pie in the Sky many times. The place has a great relaxed atmosphere especially on the weekends where you get cyclists and bikies. Overlooking the F3 highway, the view extends out to the ocean on the horizon. What makes Pie in the Sky pies different from other pies is their own special recipe pastry and innovative combinations of fillings. You must finish each course of pies with a dessert pie. They are to die for!

I work at PITS Cowan.
I eat a pie every shift and the only one that isnt awesome is steak and kidney, thats because I believe kidneys smell like Lama and cant eat them lol. Its a great place and since starting work there I cant bring myself to eat a processed pie. These are all made in store the day before, quickly chilled for safety and heated to 70 degrees before being placed in the pie warmers. Pies dont come much fresher than that!
