Redsalt – Darling Harbour, Sydney

When the We Love Sydney offers came to an end, the whole Sydney foodie world let out a sigh of disappointment as the era of buy one main get one free was over (I think it hit Chocolatesuze especially hard since it meant her reign of terror over the porkys was over). But, shortly after a new hero has arisen… Introducing Enliven Taste! There are some other offers like hotel stays, tours and other attractions but the food is where it’s at! With a selection of some new restaurants and some from the We Love Sydney list, we decided to hit up someplace we have not yet been. For research of course ^^! Perusing through the list Redsalt seemed like a prime place to start off with since I read some good comments about their steaks hee hee XD

Enliven card. This time you don’t actually get sent one but just need to print it out or apply for the sms
After a little mishap due to some communcation problems (Don’t forget you still owe us 10x Tetsuyas, Mister!), our hungry group were fully ready to enlive our senses! The atmosphere of place was pretty nice apart from a few screaming babies but that is not the restaurants fault haha, also The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Here Comes the Food

Grainge Beef Ribeye 350gm ($38.50) with rocket and parmesan salad, chunky chips and bernaise sauce

Grainge Beef Ribeye 350gm ($38.50) with sweet potato salad, creamy mash and pinot noir sauce
The rib eyes were tender and juicy and cooked to their liking. The bernaise sauce was creamy and tasty, just the way it is supposed to be although the rocket and parmesan salad was a bit of plain and boring compared to the sweet potato salad which had chunks of grilled haloumi cubes (yum ^^!), roma tomatos, pepita seeds, spinach leaves and white beans. The chips were crispy and crunchy and cut in big steak cuts while the creamy mash was like gooey gold.

Wagyu Beef sirloin bordelaise sauce bercy, served with baby beets and asparagus ($39)

Wagyu Beef sirloin bordelaise sauce bercy, served with baby beets and asparagus ($39) + Creamy mashed potato (desiree potatoes, cultured butter & cream)
The Wagyu beef was beautifully soft and melty especially they included 3 small blobs of pure Wagyu fat on top of the steak! How awesomely fatty but tasty is that! The steak was very good with a good melt-factor but it is not the best we had. The baby carrots were a bit underdone and still had too much bite too it but the asparagus were just right. The creamy mashed potato was also a huge highlight of the meal. The beautiful creaminess oozes pesto flavour with each bite. I would have never thought of adding pesto oil to mash but it works wonders!

Our steaky table!

Buffet area, not sure about the details though

Redsalt sure did satisfy my steak craving, and their mashed potato really impressed me so it was definitely worth trying. A few problems is the prices of the dishes did not really reflect the rest of the restaurant, though the food was excellent but maybe slightly overpriced. The kitchen did have mishaps with the orders on how people wanted their steaks but overall a nice experience and definitely worth it with the Enliven deal.

The ’sweet potato salad’ was very nice!! but stay away from the ‘pinot noir’ sauce..didn’t taste very nice. Should’ve opted for the ‘green peppercorn’ or mushroom sauce instead.
@timmeh, you better not forgets!

Hello…
you’ve made my mouth watery just by looking at those steak… grrrhhhh… Oh oh…and I want to comment also about the TW trip and the traditional food. I remember I went to Taiwan in 1997 (Kaoshiung, Taichung, Taipei), and I remember how good the food was. Lots of dried fish and seaweed. I remember the smell of the dried fish along the beach… hahahah. Oh oh, and I went to cemetery where they buried Teresa Teng the famous singer. I remember we ate lots of hot pot dishes during the trip. I hope I can go back there some time in the future.
Just an update, I just posted something from my trip to Perth, and this time I wrote it in English. (I know that you said previously that you couldn’t read any of my entries haha).
