Synsepalum Dulcificum, Synsepalum Dulcificum the Miracle Froot, the more you eat, the more you… perceive foods as sacchariferous?!

Just imagine walking along the street on a fine Sunday arvo, with the sun shining brightly, puffy clouds floating overhead and the birds chirping away happily. When, suddenly, you turn and look to your left and through slits of a fence you see heads of all sorts of crazy colours, shapes and materials bobbing around and screams of “WHOOAHHHH THIS LEMON TASTES SO AWESOOMMMEE, I BE TRIPPIN’!!” The first thing that would pop into my mind is ‘those kids be high *shakes head*’ especially when there is an Afroman in the crowd.

What actually happened was a bunch of foodies went on a flavour trip with the Miracle Frooties while celebrating a housewarming ^^! Good, fun times!

Suze’s Groping chair which I made pink to match her bob of hair ^^!

The usual suspects of Femme Fatale Suze (awesome hostess), Glitter Gal1Glitter Gal2, Punk Orlando Billy (dealer of the Frooties), Cletus the Yokel, Pippi Longstocking, Afro Simonrai and Purple Ninja. The entry fee into Suze’s humble abode was to wear a wig and for the glorious food we would do anythinnngggg ^^! When I arrived, there were things being chopped, pots bubbling away, pans being heated and wonderful aromas wafting out of the kitchen in general. Also mystery packages on the table which later revealed themselves to be tasty dessert treats (YAY!).

Glazed Ribs of Tastiness handed down through the Thye family from generation to generation (by that I meant from Mrs Thye to Suze :P )

There is something about ribs roasting in the oven that makes my heart skip a beat ^^!

Suze’s pro fluffing and puffing skills! Mmmmm rotilicious

Suze posing with her Gelatissimo bin

After the usual photoing it was finally time to dig in and boy were we famished!

Here Comes the Food

dsc_0406

The ribs tasted as good as they looked which was very damn good! The sweet basting and tender meat had us all craving for a few plates of these ribs each (well Yas and I at least hee hee) and picking at the bones wishing there were more hee hee. A huge thanks to the Thye ladies ^^!

dsc_0421

Helen’s skillfully rolled fresh home made sushi!

Sushi sushi sushi ^^! A selection of a chicken teriyaki maki and a crabstick maki and inside out california roll meant there were enough tasty sushi to go around. Add in some fresh wasabi and soy sauce and yay everybody is happy.

dsc_0422

Chicken Curry courtesy of Thye ladies again and accompanying roti

Juicy morsels of chicken in flavoursome curry with crispy roti to mop up all the curry. Blissful especially since the curry did have a tiny heat to it which made it tastier ^^!

dsc_0424

Shez’ lentil salad, Suze’s pumpkin & pear salad with pine nuts and bocconcini and some fried mushrooms

Fresh salads of lentil and pumpkin ^^! Healthy and fresh, these matched well with the other dishes mmmm.

dsc_0427

Simon’s tasty crunchy, crispy, meaty, delectable balls

These magical balls of prawn or scallop were a bit hit especially with a sweet and sour hoisin-based sauce. Crisp and beautiful crunch on the outside and soft juicy inside mmmm :)

I loved how there were many varieties of cuisine in one meal :)

Intermission 1 – Mail order bride… comes complete with basil plant!

Our table or trippin’

The Miracle Frooties are able to temporarily change the state of your taste buds so that sour and bitter foods woud taste sweet and we had to put it to the test! A table testing foods was set up and everything was put to the test… as soon as the tablet fully dissolved in our mouths which took its sweet time doing. And while it did so, it tasted like chalk and very meh but the effects were quite surprising.

- Lemon – probably the favourite of all the other trippin’ foods as it become very sweet with just a tiny hint of sourness.

- Warheads – only the outer powdery portion (malic acid) was slightly sour but the candy part turned super sweet.

- Kiwi – tasted extra sweet and quite pleasant.

- Passionfruit pulp – if anything just a tad sweeter but apparently it turned into chocolate for the ladies?!

- Strawberries – I tried to choose the whitest pack of strawberries to ensure they were sour and they did taste sweetish with only a slight tinge of sourness.

- Bitter Melon – tasted like soot and poo as normal eewwww >_<

- Yakult – tasted normal to me but maybe cos I am used to the TW version which was already much sweeter than Oz version haha.

- Citric Acid – tasted like lemon sherbet which had Yas addicted = pain later on.

- Rice Vinegar – still tasted strong and vinegary but it might have been the Frooty wearing off at this stage.

Intermission 2 – Billy doing sunsilk hair ad

After the Frootie has worn off (only lasts 15-30mins) we were all ready and craving for some dessert haha. Like all the sour-turned-sweet stuff wasn’t enough for us hee hee ^^!

dsc_0467

Helen’s Coca cola cupcakes!

These cupcakes did taste like coke, beautiful morsels of cupcakey goodness ^^!

dsc_0471

Karen’s Lime and Chocolate Tart

A ingenius combination that was doubted at first but soon we were all chocolate and lime convertees and craved for more!

dsc_0373

Suze’s Peach Slice

Another great dessert but alas everybody was getting full, but of course managed to squeeze in at least half a slice of this wonderfully moist slices.

Pressurized creammmm!

dsc_0477

dsc_0478

Simon’s working his magic

Simon also made a creamy and smooth Chocolate Chantilly and topped it off with some whipped cream :)

dsc_0481

Sideways Deli Cafe Pavlova

Yas brought 3 delicious and cloudy pavlovas with fresh fruit and totally understandable why 3 were needed because we could have had at least 1 each if were we not stuffed from all the lunch, trippin’ and other desserts. Yummmm ^^!

dsc_0376

Billy’s DOMOKUUUNNNN ^^!

dsc_0508

Oh the humanity!!!

Billy made a very cute and chocolatey Domokun :) Chocolate is always good and especially when it is shaped into an awesome character like Domokun then it becomes even better XD

dsc_0497

Happy mini housewarming Suze!

dsc_0511

Yas was still a bit peckish so cream is always a good stomach filler…

dsc_0514

Billy decided Yas needed help in eating the cream and gave him a helping hand…

dsc_0520

Revenge is best served whipped… and on the face

dsc_0453
