Had to Happen – North Sydney, Sydney

“Hmm what about fajitas?”

“What did you call me?!”

Yay for birthday celebrations and what better way to celebrate through all-you-can-eat food of some sort. Our very good bubbly and pink friend, Fifi, was juggling a few places to hold such a feasting and finally decided on Had to Happen. A strict dress code was in place that everybody must have at least one piece of pink clothing, so one cool night a large and hungry pink mass entered the warm and cheery atmosphere of this restaurant. It so (had to -___-) happens that Fifi is also friends with fellow foodblogger Penguin says Feed Me! (hihi) so that was a fun surprise and also meant I wasn’t the only person taking food photos hee hee ^^! The special party menu (fajitas) is avaible for groups of 15+ and at $28 per person it is quite a good deal :) I intended on getting all my moneys worth (asianess) so I preped myself hee hee.

Here Comes the Food

Untitled-1

Chile con Queso – melted cheese dip with a rich tomato flavour (House specialty)

We were greeted with some stomach-fillers of nachos but as most of us were very very hungry we succumb to some sampling of these nachos and they were quite good. Especially with the mild and warm salsa which could have done with lots more cheese but the rich tomato flavor was present.

Lucifer’s plate – Hot chilli, Mexican sausge. Hot! Hot! Hot! ($15.80)

One of the party poopers didn’t shine to teh all-you-can-eat idea and went for a plate of nachos instead. He said they were very good but could have been hotter so I added some extra jalapenos to his dish hee hee.

Untitled-2

Our DIY fajita kits! – salsa de plaza, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, frijole, crushed peanuts and soft tortillas

Untitled-3

I kicked started my fajita fest even before the meat arrived with a vegetarian fajita. The soft and fluffy tortillas were just the way I liked them and a good balance of fillings any way you like make this fun and refreshing as each fajita you make can be different ^^! I like mine cheesssyyyy hee hee and I found the crushed nuts to be a great addition texture-wise. I do find that the tortillas are a bit small because all of mine ended up too big to be rolled properly :P (or maybe just don’t put in as much filling as I did haha)

Untitled-12

Strips of barbequed chicken and beef with sauteed vegetables

When the meat came, we got down to business hee hee. I was sitting at one end of the table and shared with 3 other people and only ended up with 3 plates of meat :( I say we  should had done better! As you can see the plates got smaller the 2nd and 3rd times round.

Untitled-4

No. 2 mmmm bring on the meat! And some jalapenos for fun ^^!

Untitled-5

No. 3 the chilli sauce (which came on a separate saucer) was mild to moderate so it did have a nice little kick to it

Untitled-6

No. 4 and still going strong :) pack it til it bursts I say!

Untitled-7

No. 5 can’t talk… eating

Untitled-8

No 6. the bbqed chicken and beef strips were done very nicely so they were not tough or stringy but tender with a slight crispness to them

Untitled-9

No. 7 ooh slowing down around here but had to keep going! RAARRR!

Untitled-10

No. 8 needed to go for a little stroll to the other end of the table and chat with other people

Untitled-11

No. 9 errgghhh *nom…. nom…….*

I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t reach double digits as that would had meant ordering another plate of meat and I was not sure I could’ve finished that by myself at this stage. After the fajitas I needed a good sit down and rest (though I did feel like some dessert) so I missed out on taking photos of the birthday creme brulee (but you can see it here). I did end up having a taste of it and it wasn’t that spectacular so come for the fajitas, stay for the… umm more fajitas!!

Untitled-14

Some post-fajita phototaking – Hee hee look at D disguised as Nacho Libre in the Had to Happen sombero! The bar where you can order three tequila shots (refer to first photo :P ) and the wall of death (not as impressive as the one at FFS though)

A big and spicy Happy B’day to Fifi ^^!
