Penguin says feed me… ribs and crack pie!

When a foodblogger turns 21, we don’t go out and drink like a fish, or smoke like a dragon or even gamble like a snake… we simply eat like a Penguin! This Birthday Penguin led a zoo of food bloggers onwards to an all- you- can- eats ribs (ahhh music to my ears) place, Waterhouse Grill at Harbourside.

A round of Tuesday special 29 dora all-you-can-eat ribs was ordered for the table and the anticipation of the ribs to come made me a little giddy…

Or maybe it was just because of the beer heh. Getting ready for the feast ahead we had to arm ourselves with the appropriate beverage but it was a pity I did not prepare the night before :(

After a short wait which felt longer than it was, Here Comes the Food

#1

The first plate was dug into with immeasurable vigor and energy and was quickly devoured. There was a range of rib quality from some being slightly cold to some being fresh off the grill, some a bit dry and others smothered in enough sauce to leave your face the same state as the plate.

#2 (taking one-handed in low light = artistic blur)

The chips were surprisingly crispy and moreish, especially with the rib sauce, and even though we all knew that they were the ‘fillers’ intended to take up precious rib-space we managed to munch down a fair amount.

Around this time I was still feeling and going strong so I was cockily saying “yeah 6 should do it” and boy was I wrong. When I finished this 3rd plate it was like hitting the food wall. I wanted to keep going mentally but my body was saying (sluggishly) “noooo”.

After poking and playing around with this set, I only ended up eating half of it, and nibbling on the chips which were so much easier to eat than the ribs. Probably because I was really craving something sweet, or probably because there was a HUUGEE chunk of fat that slightly put me off haha. A certain someone stated “if that was deep-fried (the chunk of fat), I would so eat it” but I fear for her arteries :P I shall be prepared for the next all-you-can-eat event so watch out radioactive man food!

The fabulous Ellie had prepared a Momofuku crack pie for this occasion and it was a real treat! I don’t really understand why everybody kept saying it was unattractive (you guys are just racist XP hee hee I kids I kids) because if someone presented this cake to me, I would down it all in a heartbeat. It was rich and gooey with a buttery pastry and caramely centre, in four words – heaven in a bite.

*Note* I forgot to mention Helen‘s fashionably late but grand entrance! Just in time for piieee ^^! Hi Helen *waves*

A dinner of pure meat and potatoes, topped off with a dessert of sugar and butter. Could not get any better than this! (Well we did end up going for 2nd dessert of ice cream hee hee) Hope you had an awesome B’day Jacq!!
